Residential Incentive Programs
Mohave Electric offers incentives to residential customers for the purchase and installation of qualifying photovoltaic (solar) systems, wind generators, or solar water heating.
Reservation applications for incentives and program enrollment applications are required before the system is installed. Incentives are paid after the completed project has been verified and met all program terms and conditions.
Total available 2011 funding for residential, commercial, and solar water heating incentives is $540,645.
Residential PV and Small Wind Systems
For residential systems, the combined generation at the location is limited to a maximum of 125% of the total connected load and is limited to one installation per service entrance. The maximum amount of an incentive payment is $30,000.
For qualified renewable energy systems, Mohave Electric will pay its members:
- System size 5kW or smaller: $2.00/watt of installed nameplate capacity, up to 40% (not to exceed $30,000) of the total cost of the system.
- System size larger than 5kW up to 50kW: $2.00/watt of installed nameplate capacity for 5kW, then $1.50/watt for the remaining capacity, up to 40% (not to exceed $30,000) of the total cost of the system.

Residential Solar Water Heating
For residential solar water heating systems, Mohave Electric will provide an incentive of $0.75 per kWh of energy saved during the system’s first year of operation. Solar systems must be OG-300 certified to be eligible for the SunWatts incentive. A list of OG-300 certified solar systems is available at the Solar Rating and Certification Corporation’s website www.solar-rating.org. The incentive program only applied to those systems which replace a traditional electric water heater. The customer contribution to the cost of the solar water heater project must be a minimum of 15% of the total project cost after accounting for and applying all federal and state incentives. Solar swimming pool heating systems are not eligible for the incentive program.
