Duncan Valley Electric Cooperative (DVEC)

Duncan Valley Electric Cooperative (DVEC), a class-A member of Arizona’s G&T Cooperatives, is one of the original “founding four” cooperatives that helped form Arizona Electric Power Cooperative 50 years ago to meet the generation and transmission needs of rural Arizona residents in Duncan and the surrounding area.

DVEC was incorporated in 1947 with the purpose of providing affordable and reliable electric service to the Duncan, Arizona area. DVEC’s service area includes southern Greenlee and Greenlee counties in Arizona, as well as parts of Grant and Hidalgo Counties in New Mexico.

DVEC serves almost 2,000 members. It has more than 2,300 electric meters and 792 gas meters, with 452 miles of electric distribution line and 50 miles of gas line. The cooperative employs 13 people.

DVEC offers a variety of incentives that are designed to help our members take advantage of the renewable energy resources available in our state. Doing so will help decrease air pollution, reduce energy costs for participating members and help build a more sustainable future for all Arizonans.

To help members with the cost of adding renewable energy systems to their homes or businesses, DVEC offers the Solar and Renewable Energy Incentive Program that includes support for a wide variety of renewable energy technologies including solar projects, such as photovoltaic systems, solar water heaters, wind, as well other technologies such as wind, biogas, hydro and geothermal projects.

For additional information on DVEC’s renewable energy programs, call us at (928) 359-2503 or visit us at 379597 AZ 75, Duncan, AZ 85534.

Up-Front Incentive Program Information

DVEC offers a variety of Up-Front Incentives (UFI) to members for the purchase and installation of several renewable energy solutions.

DVEC’s offers UFIs program includes incentives for technologies such as Solar Panels (Photovoltaic Systems), Solar Water Heating, residential wind, and solar daylighting.

Upfront incentives are paid to members after the project has been completed and all payment requirements have been met.

Reservation applications are logged in the order in which they are received. All incentive programs are subject to funding availability. If program funding is not available the member is placed on a waiting list and rebated in the order received once additional funding is available.

Solar Panels/Photovoltaic Systems

There's plenty of sunlight in Arizona and with DVEC rebates and available federal and state tax credits, powering your home with the sun is very affordable. Once installed, solar panels turn sunlight into free, non-polluting energy. Your home will remain connected to the DVEC grid, so you'll always have energy anytime you need it. When your system produces more power than you need, the electricity is fed back into the DVEC grid and you can be credited for that power.

Terms & Conditions:

Up to $3.00 per watt (Watt DC-STC) up to a maximum incentive of 40% of the system cost. The maximum system size eligible to receive a solar UFI is 10 kW.

To qualify for DVEC incentives, the equipment must be purchased and installed within 180 days of DVEC's approval of the enrollment application.

To apply for a DVEC Renewable Energy Incentive, call us at (928) 359-2503 or visit us at 379597 AZ 75, Duncan, AZ 85534.

Solar Water Heaters (SWH)

Installing a solar water heater makes financial sense. Heating water for your household can account for up to 15% your energy bill. With DVEC incentives and federal and state tax credits, you can save up to 80% on the cost of the water heater, leading to a quick payback on your investment.

Terms & Conditions:

Up to $0.75/kWh for first year kWh savings as measured over conventional water heating. All solar water heating systems must be OG-300 rated by the National Solar Rating and Certification Corporation. For a complete list of OG-300 rated solar water heaters visit www.solar-ratings.org.

To qualify for DVEC incentives, the equipment must be purchased and installed within 180 days of DVEC's approval of the reservation application.

The customer contribution to the cost of the solar water heating system must be at least 15 percent of the project cost before DVEC incentives and all available Federal and State tax credits have been applied.

DVEC Renewable Energy Rebates are subject to change and funding availability.

Solar Daylighting (SD) - Commercial Program Only

Solar daylighting is an inexpensive way to utilize the light from the sun to illuminate areas of your facility during the day instead of using artificial lighting that uses electricity. It has the added benefit of reflecting most of the sun's heat.

Most solar daylighting installs fairly quickly and with no structural change. A solar collector gathers the sun’s light and directs it through a reflective tube on the roof of your facility. A diffuser then spreads the light throughout your interior space.

Terms & Conditions:

Maximum Up-Front Incentives for solar daylighting are $0.20/kWh. Rate applies to first year energy savings only, based on Energy Savings and Designed Output (ES&D) report.

To apply for a DVEC Renewable Energy Incentive, call us at (928) 359-2503 or visit us at 379597 AZ 75, Duncan, AZ 85534.

Other Non-Solar Residential Incentives: Residential Wind Systems

Wind power has been utilized for centuries to pump water and grind grain in agricultural settings. Today more than 75,000 Megawatts of wind generation exist worldwide. The wind rotates blades that turns a turbine and makes electric current. Now homeowners can use this centuries old technology to produce electricity for their homes. Efficient cost effective wind generators are now available that can produce electricity all while protecting Arizona’s precious natural resources. Wind generators are well suited for members that have a large lot and live in an area where wind is prevalent.

Terms & Conditions:

Up to $3.00 per watt (Watt DC) up to a maximum incentive of 40% of the system Cost. The maximum system size eligible to receive a wind UFI is 10 kW.

To qualify for DVEC incentives, the equipment must be purchased and installed within 180 days of DVEC's approval of the enrollment application.

Performanced-Based Incentive Program Information

DVEC offers Preformance-Based Incentives (PBI) for solar and wind systems larger than 10 kW and other qualifying technologies.

Performance based incentives are incentives that are paid based on the actual metered production of the system being installed. Production is tracked and incentives are paid out on a quarterly or semiannual basis for a period up to 20 years. Incentive payments cannot exceed 60% of system costs and projects are selected based on a competitive selection process. Projects are awarded until the budgeted funding for that selection period is exhausted. Projects not selected during a selection period are eligible to revise project parameters to be more competitive and resubmit for consideration during the next selection period.

For additional information or to submit a PBI project for consideration, call us at (928) 359-2503 or visit us at 379597 AZ 75, Duncan, AZ 85534.

Solar Panels/Photovoltaic Systems - larger than 10 kW

Three hundred days of sunshine a year make today's reliable solar technology ideally suited to Arizona's climate. DVEC rebates, along with the federal and state tax incentives, make using clean solar energy to power your business easy and affordable. Plus, powering your business with clean, reliable solar energy demonstrates your organization's commitment to environmental responsibility and can give it a competitive advantage.

Photovoltaic (PV) panels are typically installed on a business’ rooftop and positioned to maximize exposure to the sun. The panels contain sunlight-absorbing semiconductors that convert sunlight into electrons, which flow as direct current (DC) electricity to an inverter. The inverter then transforms the DC electricity into AC electricity, which can be used to power your business. If your system produces more than you use, the excess flows to the DVEC grid and your account is credited. Because your facility remains connected to the power grid, you’ll have electricity at night and on dark, rainy days.

Terms & Conditions:

Requested Production Based Incentives may not exceed $0.202/kWh. Members may request funding up to the maximum levels; however, incentives are limited and are awarded based on a competitive process.

For additional information or to submit a PBI project for consideration, call us at (928) 359-2503 or visit us at 379597 AZ 75, Duncan, AZ 85534.
